Bangkok provides a wide variety of tourist attractions, shopping and nightlife to keep the average person going indefinitely and there’s easy access to fun cities and beach sites in Pattaya, Hua Hin and Koh Samet or further afield via short flights to Phuket, Chiang Mai and Koh Samui. then there's the option of a day trip to the War Cemetery and museums in Kanchanaburi, so extend your stay to enjoy the sights or just have a round of golf and a quiet beer.

Visas Tourists from most Countries are permitted to stay 15-30 days in the Kingdom without a visa but please check with your Thai Embassy or Consul office, or refer to www.thaivisa.com

Passports It is recommended that travelers secure their passport in the hotel and just carry a photocopy. Lost or stolen passports need to be reported to your Embassy as soon as you are able but none work on weekends so your contact will be with the Duty Officer in your Home capital city. Time consuming and frustrating & to be avoided!!

Currency & ATMs Currency is in Thai Baht and Currency Exchanges and ATMs are located around the Airport and everywhere in the City, open until 9.00pm, 7 days a week. They are English language capable and accept all major cards. ATM withdrawals with some machines is limited to Bt 20,000/day.

Sports Bars, Places to Have a Beer and/or a Meal
The Londoner Pub on the corner of Sukhumvit Soi 33, will host the annual ‘Tournament Welcome Party’ on Friday night, before the Tournament. Wall Street Bar 350 metres down Soi 33 directly opposite Tournament Caterers, Tenderloins Restaurant with Bistro 33 down a further 200m.

Other recommended locations include Soi Cowboy off Sukhumvit Soi 23 where sponsors include Moonshine Bar and Jungle Jims, Fanny’s and Toy Bar. A visit to Nana Entertainment Plaza in Sukhumvit Soi 4 is worth it, but beware of "Lady Boys". The Southerners RFC home base is now the Soi 8 Bar on Soi 8.

Warning - avoid drinking at any of the "roadside bars" in the City, mixed drinks may be spiked  - have beers opened in your presence.

Visas

Visas can be obtained on arrival at Suvanabhumi Airport (Bangkok) and are valid for stays of 15 or 30 days, depending on your country of origin. Should you wish to stay longer, extensions can usually be easily arranged. Check your local Thai Embassy or Consular Office for further information.

Customs

Thailand prohibits the import of the following items:
Narcotics (marijuana, hemp, opium, cocaine, morphine, heroin, amphetamines),
Obscene literature, videos or pictures
firearms or ammunition.

Drugs warning

Thailand invokes the Death penalty for narcotic offences. Recreational drugs including amphetamines and marijuana are classed in the same category as heroin and cocaine. Possession of even a minor quantity of any narcotic substance is a serious offence and offenders will be tried, fined and/or jailed.
